Ameristar Featured Shooting Star at Star Pavilion on November 23, 2019
Kansas City’s very own legendary rock band Shooting Star performed live in concert for the second time this year at Ameristar Casino’s Star Pavilion on November 23, 2019. The band previously played the venue on January 19, its first show in three and a half years and the first since the passing Van McLain. Featuring founding member Steve Thomas (drums), classic member Dennis Laffoon (keyboards), frontman Todd Pettygrove, violin player Janet Jameson and guitarist Chet Galloway, the band continues to carry on the legacy of the late great singer-songwriter, guitarist and co-founder.
In front of an always impassioned crowd, Shooting Star once again indulged those on hand with its soothing melodic sounds. An aura seems to follow the band wherever it goes, a particular nostalgic feeling that makes it so insatiable to Kansas City. Fans are just so incredibly proud to call Shooting Star their own. They were delighted on this evening in the band’s staples and even a few tunes that set it apart from January’s show.
Always present fan favorites like “Touch Me Tonight” and “You’ve Got What I Need” were performed along with occasional tunes like “Get Ready Boy” and “Wild in the Streets.” In the spirit of the season, Shooting Star even shared its own original holiday song from 1985 entitled “Christmas Together.” It was another magical night that KC is blessed to live time and time again. Watch for more live shows coming to Ameristar Casino in 2020.
