Improvisational multi-genre artist Bruce Hornsby was live last night at Knuckleheads Saloon in the East Bottoms of Kansas City with his band The Noisemakers in support of the upcoming album “Rehab Reunion” (2016). Although largely known a for his incomparable piano playing, the new release features Hornsby performing solely on the dulcimer as seen in the photo highlight.
The six-man group wowed the crowd with a 2-hour set that showcased a variety of instruments, including a violin and even a frottoir. It was an all-out jam session, a sentimental evening that the crowd felt some sort exclusivity in witnessing. Ear-to-ear smiles not only adorned the faces of the fans as many of them danced up against the stage, but also on those of each band member. They seemed to have the time of their life as they treated everyone to a bit of their new tunes, as well as those heartfelt classics produced with The Range like “Mandolin Rain” and “The Way It Is”—a chance for Hornsby to dazzle on the ivories.
“Rehab Reunion” is available in stores and through Amazon on June 17, as well as by digital download on iTunes—look for Hornsby’s featured tune “Tropical Cashmere Sweater” written with Robert Hunter of The Grateful Dead and his new version of the hit song “The Valley Road” (1988).
