Gene Watson Performed Live at Ameristar Casino Hotel Kansas City on Saturday, February 24, 2018

Real country music legend Gene Watson returned to Star Pavilion at Ameristar Casino Hotel Kansas City on Saturday, February 24, 2018 for another wonderfully heartfelt evening. A five-piece band, including his lead guitarist, steel guitar player, bassist, piano player and drummer, joined him in taking the crowd back through the past five and a half decades of his career. Watson entered the business back in 1962 and made his first big break in 1975 with “Love in the Hot Afternoon.” The lifelong Texan treated fans to that hit along with a plethora of others throughout the years such as “Paper Rosie,” “Nothing Sure Looks Good on You,” “Don’t Waste It on the Blues,” that chart-topping tune “Fourteen Karat Mind” and of course his most requested song, “Farewell Party.” His set even featured a handful of covers from the album “My Heroes Have Always Been Country” plus “Old Roman Soldier” from his brand new record, “My Gospel Roots.” Post-show, fans flocked to the Star Pavilion entry way to meet the icon as his shook hands and signed autographs.
