Ultra-beloved blue-eyed soul sensation Steve Winwood brought his “Greatest Hits Live” tour to Uptown Theater in Kansas City, MO on March 2, 2018. It was a totally sold out performance as Winwood and is repertoire of music throughout the past five and a half decades turned out fans from their 20s to their 80s. The truly transcendent artist took the crowd on a thrill ride with hits from his time spent with The Spencer Davis Group, Traffic and Blind Faith, as well as from his solo career. His daughter Lilly Winwood opened the show with a sweet acoustic set in support of her first EP and would later join him on stage for a few songs. Backed by his incredibly talented 4-man band, Winwood dazzled with his timeless voice and skillful musicianship on the piano and guitar. He capped off his initial set with two if his greatest hits of the 1980s—”Roll With It” and “Higher Love”—before returning for a 3-song encore topped off with a rousing delivery of “Gimme Some Lovin'” that left the audience floating out of the theater on cloud nine.
