The Psychedelic Furs Tour Makes Way for The Truman Kansas City
Emblematic British alternative rock band The Psychedelic Furs is set to perform live in concert at The Truman in downtown Kansas City, MO on Friday, May 10.
Led by brothers Richard Butler on vocals and Tim Butler on bass guitar, the post-punk group formed in 1977 and quickly became a staple on US college and modern rock radio stations in the early-’80s upon the emergence of MTV. The Psychedelic Furs released its self-titled debut album in 1980 and broke through in the U.S. with the release of its 1981 album, “Talk, Talk, Talk.” That record includes “Pretty in Pink,” which went on to become one of the most iconic songs of the decade with its feature in the motion picture soundtrack of the cult classic John Hughes film by the same name.
The band discography also includes alt rock and new wave hits such as “Dumb Waiters,” “Love My Way,” “Heaven,” “The Ghost in You,” “Heartbreak Beat” and “All That Money Wants.” Joining the Butler bros on stage are classic member Mars Williams on saxophone (The Waitresses), Amanda Kramer on keyboards (Information Society/The Golden Palominos), Rich Good on guitar and Paul Garisto on drums.
Tickets for the The Psychedelic Furs at The Truman cost $35.00 and are available online via TicketFly and in person at the venue box office. The Truman is located downtown at 601 E. Truman Rd., Kansas City, MO 64106. Doors open at 7pm, show starts at 8pm. All ages are welcome.
