The Alarm to Perform at Liberty Hall in Lawrence with Modern English and Jay Aston’s Gene Loves Jezebel
A legion of eminent British alternative rock bands is making its way to the US. Led by Welsh frontman Mike Peters, The Alarm announced a trek across North America in support of its forthcoming album “Sigma” alongside Modern English and Jay Aston’s Gene Loves Jezebel. The outing begins July 19 at 3TEN Live in Austin, TX and is scheduled to hit the historic Liberty Hall in downtown Lawrence, KS on Saturday, August 10.
Dubbed the “Sigma LXXXV” tour, the summer spectacular promises to deliver the very best music and ideas from all three staple new wave groups of the 1980s, all of which continue to produce fresh and creative music. The tour also comes on the heels of the recent releases of the Modern English album “Take Me to the Trees” (2016), as well as “Dance Underwater” (2017) from Jay Aston’s Gene Loves Jezebel. Setlists are sure to feature some of those new tracks along with the classics. “Fans can expect collaboration, moments of reflection, camaraderie and also the unexpected,” Peters said. “The tour will be alive on all the social media platforms allowing fans from around the world to see what it’s like for British bands to be on the road in the USA.”
The Alarm – “The Stand,” “Sixty Eight Guns,” “Strength,” “Spirit of ’76,” “Knife Edge,” “Rain in the Summertime,” “Where Were You When the Storm Broke?” and “Blaze of Glory”
Modern English – “I Melt With You,” “Hands Across the Sea,” “Smiles and Laughter,” “Swans on Glass,” “Someone’s Calling,” “Life in the Gladhouse” and “Ink and Paper”
Jay Aston’s Gene Loves Jezebel – “Desire (Come and Get It),” “The Motion of Love,” “Heartache,” “Bruises,” “Influenza (Relapse),” “The Cow” and “Jealous”
Each show will feature a grand finale rendition of The Alarm’s “Love Hope Strength” charity anthem with members of all three groups on stage. Love Hope Strength was co-founded by Mike Peters and is dedicated to “Saving Lives One Concert at a Time.” Each performance stop will host a bone marrow drive in search of donors for those suffering from blood cancer and in need of a transplant. Thus far, the charity has registered more than 200,000 people plus found more than 4,000 potential lifesaving matches. Peters was recently honored for the humanitarianism with an MBE (Member of the Most Excellent Order by the British Empire) Award by Queen Elizabeth at Buckingham Palace.
Tickets for The Alarm concert tour stop at Liberty Hall cost between $30.00 and $75.00, and are available online via Ticketmaster, at the venue box office or by calling 800-745-3000.
