America Performed Live at Ameristar Casino Hotel Kansas on October 7, 2017
Iconic folk rock band America featuring founding members Gerry Beckley and Dewey Bunnell performed live in concert at Star Pavilion inside of Ameristar Casino Hotel in Kansas City, MO on October 7, 2017. As sons of U.S. Air Force personnel stationed in London, the two along with Dan Peek joined in 1970 shortly out of high school and reached No. 1 with their very first single, “A Horse With No Name” (1972). They went on to release eleven Top 40 hits throughout the ’70s and ’80s, including their second chart topper, “Sister Golden Hair” (1975). Peek left the band in 1977 (and sadly since passed away in 2011), but Bunnell and Beckley continue to tour and record, carrying on the band’s legacy still today. Joining them on bass since 2003 is Richard Campbell who performed with Natalie Cole and Three Dog Night during the 1980s. Their set at Ameristar Casino featured those staple No. 1 songs along with other major hit songs, including “Tin Man,” “You Can Do Magic,” “I Need You,” “Ventura Highway” and “Lonely People.”
