Kansas City Music Hall Hosts 2-Night Farewell Concert for Anita Baker
R&B legend Anita Baker launched her farewell concert series this past March and is set to perform back-to-back nights downtown at Kansas City Music Hall on November 30 and December 1. As one of the most popular vocalists of soulful romantic ballads, Baker played a key role in propelling the the quiet storm period of contemporary R&B in the 1980s. The Grammy Award-winning artist has eight of those accolades to her name, not to mention four American Music awards, seven soul train awards and a B.E.T. Lifetime Achievement award. She had seven platinum albums in her career with “Rhythm of Love,” “Giving You the Best That I Got,” “My Everything” and “Rapture” reaching No. 1 on the Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums chart. Her hit singles are found across the pop, R&B and adult contemporary charts, including “Sweet Love,” “Giving You the Best That I Got,” “Just Because,” “Talk to Me” and “Body and Soul.”
