The “Rage and Rapture” tour featuring Blondie and Garbage with specials guests John Doe & Exene Cervenka came to Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts in Kansas City on July 18, 2017. It was a triple card packed with a legendary lineup and first for the punk rock and alternative rock genres inside the city’s coveted venue. X band members John Doe and Exene Cervenka opened the night with an ever-so-sweet acoustic set highlighting some of those nostalgic favorites such as “White Girl,” “The New World” and “Burning House of Love” before Garbage fronted by Shirley Manson tore down the stage with alternative early-’90s hits like “Stupid Girl” and “Only Happy When It Rains.” Pioneering band Blondie fronted by Debbie Harry headlined the spectacular evening in support of its new album “Pollinator” and endearing the crowd with those abiding chart-toppers, including “Heart of Glass,” “Call Me,” “The Tide is High” and “Rapture.”
