Country Band Diamond Rio Comes to Star Pavilion at Ameristar Casino Hotel
Legendary country music group Diamond Rio performs live at Star Pavilion inside of Ameristar Casino Hotel in Kansas City, MO on October 28, 2017. Although known for its load of hits throughout the ’90s and early 2000s, the band’s legacy stems clear back to 1982 as a special lure of Opryland USA in Nashville. After a couple of name changes—Grizzly River Boys and Tennessee River Boys—the group landed on Diamond Rio in 1990. Some personnel changes were also made in those first couple of years, but the band continues today to feature a totally classic lineup with the same six members performing together since 1989 and through all of its mainstream success. Diamond Rio has won “Vocal Group of the Year” six times—four times from the Country Music Association and twice from the Academy of Country Music—plus a long deserved Grammy award in 2011 for its first Christian album “The Reason.” The band has placed 33 songs on the country chart with 19 of them reaching the Top 10, five of which went all the way to No. 1, including the debut single “Meet in the Middle.”
