Former Eagles Guitarist Don Felder Appeared Live at Ameristar Casino in Kansas City
Grammy Award winner and Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Don Felder performed live in concert at Star Pavilion inside of Ameristar Casino in Kansas City, MO on September 25, 2021. The former Eagles lead guitarist played a load of tunes from his days with the band, including few of the those that he co-wrote—”Victim of Love,” “Those Shoes” and the all too famous “Hotel California.” He even played his solo hit “Heavy Metal (Takin’ a Ride)” (1981) from the adult stone film by the same day and covered the Stevie Ray Vaughan’s “Pride and Joy” (1983). Felder joined the Eagles in 1974 when Glenn Frey invited him to do so after having recorded an album with the group, thus always dedicates his performance of “Tequila Sunrise” to him. Felder told stories throughout his set, including a charming flash back to him trading cherry bombs with his neighbor to pick up his very first acoustic guitar. Fans grew more and more enthralled throughout the night and were especially excited when he brought out the double-headed guitar for his closing tune.
