Kauffman Center Presented The Gatlin Brothers on January 18, 2020
Legendary country and Southern gospel music group The Gatlin Brothers performed live in concert at the Kauffman Center in downtown Kansas City, MO on January 18, 2020. Fronted by Larry Gatlin with brothers Steve and Rudy, the trio was playing the second night of their 65th tour. They opened the show by recognizing the veterans on hand and singing the “Star Spangled Banner” before taking on some of their biggest tunes, all of which were written by Larry.
Sprinkled in with some comedic moments and stories behind the songs, the setlist included ’80s hits such as “Denver” and “Houston (Means I’m One Day Closer to You).” The lineup even featured crowd favorites “Broken Lady” and “All the Gold in California,” which got the audience on its feet singing and clapping along. Nearly 50 years and four vocal throat surgeries later, Larry’s voice and the three-part harmonies of The Gatlin Brothers signature sound endures for another generation of real country music fans.
