Jenny Lewis Performed Live at The Truman in Kansas City on July 10, 2018
Beloved ’80s actress and indie rock icon Jenny Lewis performed live in concert with her band at The Truman in downtown Kansas City, MO on July 10, 2018. The child star got her start in 1983 in a commercial for Jell-O and has acted in several other ads, TV shows and movies throughout her life, including “Troop Beverly Hills” (1989), “The Wizard” (1989) and “Big Girls Don’t Cry… They Get Even” (1992). As a folk singer-songwriter and musician she launched her music career in 1998 with the band Rilo Kiley and has performed in The Postal Service, as a duo in Jenny & Johnny and is currently with the trio Nice As Fuck. Since 2006, she has also released three solo albums and collaborated with artists such as Elvis Costello and Beck.
Performing in front of a tremendous Kansas City following, Jenny Lewis’ set featured a mix of her solo tunes along with songs from her time with Rilo Kiley and The Watson Twins. She played everything from her rainbow colored acoustic guitar, to the electric and even hopped on the piano for a couple. Joining her on stage was her 5-piece touring band, including her boyfriend on piano and ukulele, a guitarist, bass player, keyboard player and drummer. Fronted by her enchanting voice, it was a vivacious performance filled with a multitude of vibrant sounds brandishing her own authentic brand of music.
