Topeka Redevelopment Celebration w/ Kansas on July 2

In celebration of Topeka’s downtown redevelopment project, the city announced a FREE outdoor concert with native classic rock band Kansas. Having formed in 1973, the band first appeared on the pop chart with “Carry On Wayward Son” (1976) and had its biggest hit with “Dust in the Wind” (1978), which peaked at No. 6 on the Hot 100. Its success continued into the ’80s with several singles landing on both the pop and Mainstream Rock charts.

The show will prelude with a day of festivities featuring food trucks and The Urban Slide plus an opportunity for patrons to view the new additions, including a pavilion, statues and state symbols. Staging will sit facing south in the middle of the 700 block of S. Kansas Ave. with fans flocking the street. Pack your lawn chairs for the event. Music starts at 6pm, Kansas hits the stage at 9pm.
