Iconic hard rock band Kix performs select dates throughout the rest of the year and is set to hit the stage at Kansas City’s The Scene K.C. Rock Bar on Saturday, October 22.

Founded in Hagerstown, Maryland in 1977, Kix (originally known as The Shooze and then The Generators) was considered one of the foremost cover bands in its home state. In 1981, the group signed with Atlantic Records and released its self-titled debut album defining its distinct popmetal style, which combines bubblegum pop and the new wave sound with hard rock. The band’s slightly more commercialized follow-up album “Cool Kids” was released in 1983 and featured its first single, “Body Talk.” The third Kix record, “Midnight Dynamite” (1985), was a partnered release with heavy metal band Ratt. Upon the success and heavy rotation of that album’s lead single “Cold Shower” on MTV, the group headed to California to gain greater notoriety on the Sunset Strip.

Kix quickly built a reputation for its phenomenal live performances. In 1988, the band returned to the studio and produced the platinum-selling album, “Blow My Fuse.” The title track and “Cold Blood” were both popular on MTV while the slow ballad “Don’t Close Your Eyes” became a No. 11 hit on the pop chart. The group was now playing big arena shows opening for acts such as Aerosmith and KISS plus touring successfully with Ratt, Whitesnake and Tesla. Kix would go on to release three more albums in the following decade—”Hot Wire” (1991), “KIX Live” (1993) and “Show Business” (1995)—before disbanding following that final title recorded with CMC International.

The band re-emerged in the early-2000s playing a few gigs each year and attracts an enormous cult following everywhere it appears. In 2014, after nearly a 20-year hiatus, Kix returned with the release of “Rock Your Face Off.” Since then, the group has toured and filmed, and on October 21 will release a 2-disc DVD/CD set with a 71-minute documentary featuring an in-depth look at the making of the record.

Join Kix in celebrating its film release as the band storms through The Scene. Advance tickets for the show are just $30 and available online through Stubwire. The venue is located at 14816 E. US 40 Hwy in Independence, Missouri. Doors open at 6pm, show starts at 7pm.
