Lee Greenwood & Crystal Gayle at Ameristar Casino in Kansas City on July 28, 2017
Country music superstars Lee Greenwood and Crystal Gayle performed live in concert at Star Pavilion inside Ameristar Casino Hotel in Kansas City, MO on July 28, 2017. Showing absolutely no signs of his actual age, 74-year-old Greenwood packed a load of songs into his 60-minute set, which featured a handful of ’80s hits such as “Dixie Road” and “Touch and Go Crazy.” He juked and jived across the stage and even dazzled the crowd on the keyboards and with a formidable saxophone performance of “Tequila” before capping it off with a patriotic compilation from his new album and that ever-emblematic American classic, “God Bless the USA.” Opry luminary Crystal Gayle took to the stage next with her time-honored show backed by a star-studded band including her sister Peggy Sue on vocals and musician Jay Patten, the first-ever person to play Nashville’s world-famous Bluebird Cafe. Mixed with solo instrumental performances and a bit of comedic stand-up with her sister, Gayle took the audience way back with her old-time country classics and that country-pop crossover hit “Don’t It Make My Brown Eyes Blue.”
