Marty Stuart & His Fabulous Superlatives Coming to Folly Theater in Support of New Album

Five-time Grammy Award-winning country music artist Marty Stuart & His Fabulous Superlatives are set to perform live at the Folly Theater in downtown Kansas City on Friday, May 12 in support of the new album “Way Out West.” The living legend produced the record as an acclamation to the mystique promised land, which fascinated him as a child. “Everything that came out of California captivated my kid mind in Mississippi,” Stuart shared.

Stuart started out singing gospel as a youngster before four illustrious decades in American roots music. As a teenager in the ’70s, he toured with legendary bluegrass musician Lester Flatts, then spent six years in Johnny Cash’s band. In 1985, he set out on his own and followed a prosperous career releasing a plethora of hits throughout the late ’80s and ’90s, including “Arlene,” “Cry! Cry! Cry!,” “Hillbilly Rock,” “Little Things,” “Tempted” and “Burn Me Down.” Aside from his multiple Grammy Awards, the Grand Ole Opry star is also a platinum recording artist and has even received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Music Association.

The Marty Stuart performance is part the Cyprus Avenue Live series hosted by KCUR’s Bill Shapiro. Tickets range from $20 to $60 and are available via the venue box office online, in person Monday through Friday, 10am to 5pm or by calling 816-474-4444.
