Ameristar Casino Kansas City Presented Night Ranger Live in Concert

Legendary rock band Night Ranger performed live in concert in front of a sold out crowd at Star Pavilion inside of Ameristar Casino in Kansas City, MO on October 20, 2023 as a part of its 40th Anniversary tour. We waited a long long time to get our ultra-beloved musical group back in the KC area, and not to mention that it just so happened to occur at our home away from home. It was our Star Pavilion dream concert, and the band made it more memorable—on all accounts—than what we could have ever imagined.

The venue went pitch dark and the stage lights started slowly strobing as intro music primed the audience and the band members took to their positions on stage. Fans were already out of their seats in anticipation, which is exactly where they would remain for the rest of the evening. As the lights arose, founding member, frontman and bassist Jack Blades was revealed against the Night Ranger logo prompting grand elation. “(You Can Still) Rock in America” hit, and everyone was thrown into an endless frenzy.

On stage with Jack Blades were other founding members—Kelly Keagy on drums and co-lead vocals and Brad Gillis on guitar—plus keyboard player Eric Levy and guitarist Keri Kelli. They blew the roof off of Ameristar Casino with their slew of ’80s hits along with a handful of covers, including a couple by hard rock supergroup the Damn Yankees, which Blades fronted. We were also treated to some Ozzy Osbourne and Alice Cooper music as Gillis and Kelli respectively played with them in the past.

Known for its relentless high energy, Night Ranger brought it all as the members crashed onto the stage with the very first note and certainly never decelerated until leaving the stage. It was the most perfect evening, one which we wish we could live over and over again. If there is a single band that we could photo for the rest of ever, it is undoubtedly Night Ranger. As Ameristar Casino regularly books artists on an annual basis, we are earnestly praying here that the band becomes a new staple at Star Pavilion.
