English pop icon Rick Astley announced his first United States tour since 1989 in support of his new album “50” available now. The record entered at No. 1 in the United Kingdom and subsequently launched him straight back into the music spotlight. He was an overnight sensation when his debut single “Never Gonna Give You Up” (1987) topped the charts around the world. That hit along with “Together Forever” (1987), which also reached the pinnacle in the U.S., shot his inaugural album “Whenever You Need Somebody” to 15+ million in sales.
The past few months have served quite an extensive media campaign for Astley, including headlining shows in New York City, Los Angeles and Toronto prior to the release plus a 3-song piece on “The Today Show.” All songs on the new album are written and produced by him in his home studio, and he even performed every instrument on the recordings.
Social media pre-sale tickets for his shows are available starting Tuesday, November 29 at 10am EST and general public on-sale begins Friday, December 2 at 10am—no dates are currently scheduled in the Kansas City area, but Astley is making Midwest stops in Houston, Dallas and Austin.
