Susan G. Komen Greater Kansas City Presents Rock the Ribbon III
Our phenomenal Kansas City chapter of the Susan G. Komen non-profit organization made a huge announcement for its Rock the Ribbon III concert at Arvest Bank Theatre at The Midland on Thursday, June 21. Boyz II Men, the most commercially successful R&B group of all time, will headline the event in benefit of the life-saving foundation. All proceeds go to supporting its work locally and to putting an end to breast cancer forever. Rock bands Heart and Barenaked Ladies performed at the annual show in previous years.
With origins dating back to 1985, Boyz II Men gained international fame throughout the 1990s with hits such as “Mowtownphilly,” “It’s So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday,” “End of the Road,” “In the Still of the Nite (I’ll Remember),” “I’ll Make Love to You,” “On Bended Knee,” “Water Runs Dry” and “4 Seasons of Loneliness.” With crossover appeal and impeccable harmonies placed over hip-hop beats, the group helped shift R&B back into the mainstream. Accolades include 64 million records sold worldwide, four No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 and five on the R&B chart plus three Grammy Awards. Since the departure of Michael McCary in 2003 due to health issues, Boyz II Men has performed as a trio featuring baritone Nathan Morris and tenors Wanya Morris and Shawn Stockman.
Tickets for the Rock the Ribbon III benefit concert cost between $38.50 and $150.00 and go on sale to the general public at 10am on Friday, February 9.
