Kansas City Bands Shooting Star & Missouri Return to Ameristar Casino
Heralded Kansas City rock legends Shooting Star and Missouri returned to Star Pavilion inside of Ameristar Casino for a live concert performance on March 18, 2023. The Maniacs always show up to catch Ameristar regular Shooting Star, and last year the band was joined by long-time associated act Missouri. This time around though, Missouri opened with a full set, gracing the crowd with 13 songs from its discography. The band once again featured founding members Bill Larson (drums) and Lane Turner (guitar) with Dean “Deano” Foltz (bass) and Rusty Crewse (guitar). However, founding member Randall Platt (keyboards) and newcomer Frank Drummond (lead vocals) joined them. Shooting Star continues to feature founding member Steve Thomas (drums) and classic member Dennis Laffoon (keyboards) alongside Janet Jameson (violin), Todd Pettygrove (lead vocals) and Chet Galloway (guitar). They brought with them yet another unique and exciting setlist. This one included “You’ve Got Love,” “Rainfall,” “Are You On My Side” and “Bring It On” from their 1981 album “Hang On for Your Life” plus “Train Rolls On” from their 1983 album “Burning.”
