Mike Peters and The Alarm Performed Live at recordBar in Kansas City on November 7, 2018
Welsh alternative rock and new wave band The Alarm performed live in concert at the recordBar in Kansas City’s Crossroads District on November 7, 2018. The stop was part of an extensive 70-date world tour in support of the new album “Equals” (2018), its first release of brand new music in eight years and an emotional reflection of frontman Mike Peters and his wife’s struggles with leukemia and breast cancer. The set featured some of those fresh tracks alongside the heralded classics.
Backed by a brilliant lineup featuring Jules Peters (keyboards), James Stevenson (guitar) and Smiley (drums), Mike Peters was a ball of fire from the moment he stepped on stage clear through the curtain call. With his voice ever-enduring and energy ever-accelerating, he whisked across the stage trading off between a trio of mic stands. It was a sui generis layout that lit the crowd and allowed everyone from each end of the stage to fully revel in the intimate performance.
It was seemingly a symbiotic relationship between band and audience though as both were thoroughly swept away. The Alarm following in Kansas City is clearly alive and thriving with generations of fans turning out to pack the club and excitingly tuning in with their top-notch sing-along voices. Showing absolutely zero awareness of time or its effects, Mike Peters is truly an abiding artist and forever steadfast in his illustrious live performances.
