Vestron Video Releases “Slaughter High” This Halloween

Lionsgate Home Entertainment made the exciting announcement last August  about the return of Vestron Video, the pioneering home video company active between 1981 and 1992. During that time, it owned the Time-Life Video movies, released B movies and films on VHS from the Cannon Films library and distributed other titles as The Movie Store, plus managed the US distribution, marketing and sales of films from VidAmerica. Today, the distribution arm of Lionsgate owns most of the Vestron Video holdings. And, after just a little more than a year, eleven cult classic horror films have joined the formidable collection. This Halloween, it adds its 12th title to the line—from the makers of “Friday the 13th” (1980), it’s the American-British independent slasher flick, “Slaughter High” (1986).

The premise surrounds a group of young adults who return to their now defunct high school for their ominous 5-year reunion. All previously part of a horrible prank gone awry, the butt of their joke has secretly invited them back to meticulously extract his long-awaited revenge. “Slaughter High” was previously released by Lionsgate on DVD via Movie multi-pack and as a part of “The Lost Collection” series, but this is the first time that it has arrived on Blu-ray. Uncut, restored and remaster, the release includes the “Going to Pieces” and “My Days at Doddsville” featurettes plus audio commentary, an alternate title sequence, theatrical trailer, radio spots and a still gallery.
